About Us
We have been in the web directory business for many years. This directory contains over one million, hand-selected web sites from the ODP Project as well as web sites suggested by our visitors.
Our directory is unique for several reasons:
- We have removed the Adult category from our directory in an effort to be more family-friendly than other directories.
- We do not track our visitors. We do not save our web logs for an eternity.
- We have checked all the links provided by the ODP and discovered over two hundred thousand dead or spamvertized links.
We are in the process of removing these listings.
- We accept suggestions and try to review them within 3 days. The ODP can take months to even look at your site.
- We have our own search engine that not only returns sites and categories, but also returns Wikipedia summaries related to your query.
- Most of our site consists of static content (no database backend to slow things down). While this increases the time needed to add new listings, it helps to ensure a fast web site.
- We make extensive use of open-source technologies, inluding php, mysql, perl, and swish-e.
